The thickness of leather made of different materials, especially cow leather, is relatively different. Generally speaking, the main original thickness of raw leather for leather goods is generally between 1.1mm-1.3mm. For some kinds of leather such as oil leather, it is relatively thicker in terms of thickness. And in terms of thickness, leather goods are woven thick, which needs to be passed compared with thicker cow leather.
For the large shovel, what we usually call “excessive shovel” is that the leather can be cut to our appropriate thickness. After the large shovel is completed, further processing needs to be carried out through the small shovel. Because the “folding edge” required in the production of leather goods is to fold the edges of leather goods together, so that the lines can be turned and fixed at the folding part. We need to further thin the edges of leather parts. The main reason is that for some styles of leather goods, such as leather goods with oil edge or loose edge, we should not fold edges, nor need to be able to “shovel”.
